What does it mean to Buy Local?
I've started to learn more on this subject and here are my thoughts...
Buying local can mean buying from a locally owned business which supplies goods from around the world. It can also mean buying from a local vendor who sources product from local businesses. Another take is when you buy from a local business that makes their product locally.
Alberta Apparel takes the last model to heart. All the clothing we provide is Made in Canada (soon to be Alberta) and the factories have personally been inspected and toured by us to ensure we know how the workers are treated and that they are in good working conditions, being paid fairly and ethically.
Our tag line is "feeling is believing" which refers to the fabric itself (picture the threads and fit being very soft and comfortable). This also refers to the fact that you can feel good about the clothing being made ethically. That your money is going towards dozens of employees (mostly Albertan) to support them and their families. Photographers. Videographers. Graphic Designers. Website Designers.
The next time we buy clothing maybe we should ask questions like "where are you from" and "what's your story" just like we do on a first date. Its important to like what's on the outside, but isn't it equally as important to like whats on the inside too?
